‹ Day 4

Borjomi — water of emperors

2-min read

Borjomi is a spa town in a green mountain gorge whose warm, salty-sour mineral water became famous across the Russian Empire in the 19th century, when the Romanovs took up summer residence here. In Soviet times the green bottle reached every corner of the USSR.

In the central park the water simply pours out of the ground, warm and free. A walk deeper into the forest brings you to the open-air thermal pools where the aristocracy once bathed — at a pleasant 32–38° year-round.

🎒 Swimwear and a towel for the forest pools; the walk there is about 3 km each way through the park.
